I’ve been wondering around yesterday in some of Harrogate’s outdoor shops searching and taking a decision on the best tent for my walk around the world out of the three short listed. That is, for the first European leg. So after pitching tents at Blacks and Cotswold, the winner, receiving ‘the best tent’ award, is Vango Force 10 Helium 200.
The weight (1,3 kilograms), the low condensation, the fast pitching time – it took me 4 minutes (obviously this time will increase on the field) and the possibility of first pitching the fly-sheet are among its biggest pros. So there you have it. The World Photo Tour official shelter will be, at first, the Vango Helium. Not necessarily your reliable expedition tent, but with a proper sleeping bag (for some extreme -21 °C) fitted with a silk liner, I am confident I’ll be fine even in extreme weather conditions.
For the Cotswold in Harrogate management: Ben, the guy in the picture, deserves a raise. And a promotion. He was extremely helpful, patient and went to some lengths to make sure I was doing OK in reaching my decision.
