It is an interesting exercise to write about visiting a place which was once home. And it is even more interesting to be a visitor of all too familiar places together with the person who is now more home than the place where I grew up. Not a lot of places give you the impression you are on Mars, or at least not on this planet. One of these places is the plateau of the Mud Vulcanoes of Paclele Mari in Romania. We found it especially eerie at sunrise, and given the recent earthquake, the activity of the place was quite intense. Powerful landscape, yet peaceful atmosphere.
