While Europe is bracing for the last of the winter, down South, the Atlantic Ocean shows off its might on the Portuguese coast with day in, day out weeks-lasting storms. Amazing skies and roaring, huge waves ensued.
Many times I am asked if I like Lisbon. Thing is, I did not move here for the city (sorry, Lisbon!), rather for what Lisbon is in close proximity to. And Lisbon is close to a lot of nice places! Nothing to see in Algarve, just vertigo-inducing cliffs all around, misty beaches like the ones at Beliche and Benagil, and old dormant villages. From Silves to Alvor and Sagres, from Albufeira to Portimão and Lagos. Just that. Have a go at it should you find that attractive enough.
This is what we do: wander around. No guide books and no guided tour. We don’t want to cheat ourselves out of the possibilities of an adventure, with its ups and downs. Me and Fritzi got stranded on an island for 7 days. It was by choice and the island was good to us, with all its dormant volcanoes, breath-taking coasts, whales, dolphins, natural hot pools, some weird traditions, evergreen forests and sunsets of a lifetime.
